Is cheap webhosting also the best webhosting?
A lot of people when they are looking for web hosting choose to go with the cheapest option available. In some cases this might make sense but for the most part it is not really a good idea. Web hosting is like most things in life you do tend to get what you pay for. That is not to say that the more expensive providers are always better but for the most part you will get better service from them.
The first concern that you are going to have with cheap webhosting is speed. In almost all cases the less you pay for your hosting the slower it will be. In some cases this is not an issue, if you have a simple site that does not get a lot of traffic then a cheap web host may work just fine for you. However most people will find that the cheap host is not adequate for their needs and that they need something that is a little bit faster. In this case you will almost certainly be better off paying a little bit more.
The next issue that you may have with cheap hosting is that your ability to allow your site to grow will be limited. Most of the cheap web hosts only have one plan available which means that the only way that you are going to be able to upgrade your site is to move to a different host. A lot of people get caught out by this one. They think that the cheap host will be enough but then their site starts to grow and they find that it is not. Unless you are sure that you will never out grow the cheap hosting service you are going to be better off going with a better quality host.
Security is a huge issue if you are running a website so you have to make sure that your site has all of the tools that you need for this. Most of the cheap hosts have rather lax security for the simple reason that they can't afford to invest a lot in it. That means that your site could be at risk. If you are building a site that you would not be upset at losing one day this may not be a major concern however for most sites it is a serious issue.
The other area where you are going to find that cheap web hosts are not up the level that they should be is when it comes to customer service. This is a real issue since the cheap web hosts also tend to be the ones that have the most problems. Most of the time they will have only a very limited staff to deal with customer problems. That means that it could take a long time to get your problem resolved.
